Chilliwack - Vedder River Cleanup set for September
Please join the effort to clean the river on Sunday Sept 28, 2008 at the Chilliwack Fish & Game Club. 48685 Chilliwack Lake Road in the Chilliwack River Valley. This is one of the largest community events in this area and attracts hundreds of volunteers. Registration for the event is from 8:30am – 9:30am

In 2007 volunteers removed an incredible 9 tons of garbage from riparian areas, riverbanks, campsites and trails that likely would have ended up in the river. Garbage bags, safety vests and gloves will be provided. The event runs from 9 am till noon.

See the CVRCC website for more details.

KITNES set to launch Wildlife Cam on the Chilliwack River
Chilliwack River Action Committee We are pleased to announce that KITNES will be setting up a Wildlife cam on the Chilliwack River to support the Chilliwack River Action Committee. The location will have a spectacular view of the river and mountains. The Chilliwack River Action Committee hopes the camera will showcase the Chilliwack river to an audience beyond BC. The committee is currently trying to raise funds to stabilize the siltation along the Anderson Run slide. The work to correct this area is estimated at $200,000 and will improve water conditions for 30 kilometers downstream. The Chilliwack River Action Committee is a member of The Fraser Valley Regional Watersheds Coalition.

Toad Rescue
Chilliwack BC, Canada
Zoey & Maria from SCCP would like to thank those you were able to help on July 22/23 where 80 volunteers saved 26,000 toads.

The toad migration resumed Sat. SCCP initiated a short notice rescue. Kids in the Nest volunteers were inspired by the tireless efforts of a 5 year old girl Fred. Lambert. She helped us collect over 400 toads and tenderly released most of them. We'll post pictures of the rescue later this week. Vive les crapaud!
